Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati, the sixth member of the IIT fraternity, was established in 1994. The academic programme of IIT Guwahati commenced in 1995. At present the Institute has eleven departments and five inter-disciplinary academic centres covering all the major engineering, science and humanities disciplines, offering BTech, BDes, MA, MDes, MTech, MSc and PhD programmes. Within a short period of time, IIT Guwahati has been able to build up world class infrastructure for carrying out advanced research and has been equipped with state-of-the-art scientific and engineering instruments.Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati’s campus is on a sprawling 285 hectares plot of land on the north bank of the river Brahmaputra around 20 kms. from the heart of the city. With the majestic Brahmaputra on one side, and with hills and vast open spaces on others, the campus provides an ideal setting for learning.

🎓 QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE / REQUIREMENT
Professor (Pay level 14A): A minimum of 10 years of experience of which at least 4 years should be at the level of Associate Professor in IITs, IISc Bangalore, IIMs, NITIE Mumbai and IISERs or at an equivalent level in any such other Indian or foreign institution/institutions of comparable standards.
Associate Professor (Pay level 13A2): A PhD with first class at the preceding degree or equivalent in the appropriate branch with a very good academic record throughout and a minimum of 6 years of teaching/research/industrial experience of which at least 3 years should be at the level of Assistant Professor Gr. I, Senior Scientific Officer/Senior Design Engineer.
Assistant Professor Gr I (Pay level 12): An Assistant Professor with a PhD with first class at the preceding degree or equivalent in the appropriate branch with a very good academic record throughout and at least 3 years teaching/research/industrial experience, excluding however, the experience gained while pursuing PhD.
Assistant Professor on Gr II (Pay level 10 & 11): This is not a regular cadre of the Institute. PhD without adequate experience are eligible for the post of Assistant Professor on contract basis.
