After successful establishemnt of State medical institutions at Haldwani (Nainital), Srinagar(Garhwal) and Dehradun in last decade, a step forward, the State government decided to establish another medical institute in the name of “Soban Singh Jeena Government Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Almora” at district Almora of kumaun hills of the State. The institute is under sponsorship scheme of Governemnt of India. At present, the college has the capacity of 100 MBBS admissions annually.
