Aland Taluka in the North-wester part of the Kalaburagi district, is a part of Hyderabad Karnataka region. It experiences periodic droughts which causes great distress to the predominantly agrarian population of the taluka. The entire region of Hyderabad Karnataka has been recognized as backward and given special constitutional status under the Article 371J to from 2012.Education and social programs are very important part of the solution to overcome this backwardness. Back in the 1980’s the institutes in the region, especially in rural areas were failing to fulfill these needs to the full extent, there was a need to provide better qualitative education and service to this area though it was a challenging task, Shri B.R. Patil a young leader took initiative and established Samata Lokshikshan Samiti (Trust) Kalburgi in the year 1980 along with his close associates. Under the trust they first started a higher primary school in Aland, thus firmly putting step into the field of education and the foundation of the trust.
