The Indian Maritime University – Kolkata Campus comprises two premier institutions- the Marine Engineering & Research Institute (MERI, Kolkata) and the Indian Institute of Port Management (IIPM, Kolkata).
The Indian Maritime University, established through an Act of Parliament (Act 22) in November 2008 as a Central University, is poised to play a key role in the development of trained human resource for the maritime sector.The Indian Maritime University is headquartered at Chennai and the new HQ building is built at 300 acres land allotted to IMU at Semmancherry which lies between East Coast Road and Old Mahabalipuram Road (Rajiv Gandhi Salai). The IMU has its regional campuses at Chennai, Mumbai, Kolkata, Visakhapatnam and Cochin. IMU presently offers Diploma, Degree, Postgraduate Diploma and Post Graduate Degree courses in Nautical Science, Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture & Ocean Engineering, Ship Building & Repair, Maritime Management, Doctoral Programmes and Post Sea Courses.

🎓 QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE / REQUIREMENT
Faculty (Mechanical Engineering)
Essential: a) Good academic record with at least 55% marks or an equivalent grade at both U G and PG level or at Integrated PG level in a relevant Engineering Discipline.
Desirable: a) Ph.D in a relevant discipline. b) Research publications such as books/ research papers/policy papers as per the UGC norms.
Faculty (Marine Engineering)
Category 1 Essential: a) Directorate General (Shipping) recognized MEO Class I (Motor) Certificate of Competency; b) Sailing experience for a minimum period of six months at Management level within the meaning of STCW Convention in force (c) TOTA or VICT certificate required.
Desirable: a) Ph.D in a relevant discipline. b) Research publications such as books/ research papers/policy papers as per the UGC/IMU norms. c) Teaching experience in Directorate General (Shipping) recognized training institutes.
Category 2 Essential: a) B.E/B.Tech degree in Marine Engineering with at least 55% marks or an equivalent grade and M.E/M.Tech in relevant discipline with at least 55% marks or an equivalent grade [OR] B.E/B.Tech degree with at least 55% marks or an equivalent grade along with PGDME/GME course approved by Directorate General (Shipping) with at least 55% marks or an equivalent grade and M.E/M.Tech in relevant discipline with at least 55% marks or an equivalent grade b) Sailing experience for a minimum period of six months at any level within the meaning of STCW Convention in force;
Desirable: a) Ph.D in a relevant discipline. b) Research publications such as books/ research papers/policy papers as per the UGC norms. c) Teaching experience in Directorate General (Shipping) approved training institutes.
🏆 SALARY / REMUNERATION / PAY SCALE ₹
Commensurate with the qualification and experience. However, minimum salary would be fixed as Rs.57700/-
