🏫 ABOUT INSTITUTION

Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, fondly referred to as IITKGP by its kin, right from its inception formed the bridge between Indias ancient wisdom and modern technology. IIT Kharagpur started its journey in the old Hijli Detention Camp where some of our great freedom fighters toiled and sacrificed their lives for the independence of our country. The history of IIT Kharagpur is thus intimately linked with the history of the Hijli Detention Camp. This is possibly one of the very few Institutions all over the world which started life in a prison house.There were 224 freshers and 42 teachers in August 1951 when the first session started. The class rooms, laboratories and the Administrative office were housed in the historic building of the Hijli Detention Camp. The Institute started its academic programme with only ten Departments. IIT Kharagpur has been engaged in a steady process of development with about 18 academic departments, five centres of excellence. the vast tree-laden campus, spreading over 2100 acres has a self contained township of over 15,000 inhabitants. Currently we have about 550 faculty, 1700 employees and 9000 students on the campus.

The Institute is looking for a suitable candidate for the following position in Vinod Gupta School of Management (VGSoM). VGSoM is an integral part of IIT Kharagpur and is its faculty of management studies. The School was initiated by a distinguished alumnus of IIT Kharagpur, Mr. Vinod Gupta, with a generous endowment and matching funds were made available by the MHRD. The School was set up in 1993 and has been offering Master of Business Administration (MBA) Postgraduate Degree of IIT Kharagpur as also Ph.D. In Management of IIT Kharagpur. The School is also engaged in various research and development activities towards creating the knowledge base in the given areas of study.

🎓 QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE / REQUIREMENT

The appointment is on contract for a period up to 5 years. The Professor is also required to work as Dean, Vinod Gupta School of Management.
Qualifications for the post: Ph.D. with first class or equivalent at the preceding degree in any of the following specializations and evidence of the ability to pursue independent high quality research.
Specialization: Strategic Management, Operations Management, Human Resource Management, Marketing Management, Financial Management.
Experience for the post of Dean: At least 10 years teaching / research / industrial experience of which 5 years should be at the level of Professor.
OR
The candidate should have long Administrative / Academic experiences and should have held positions of responsibility including the post of Head/CEO or equivalent position in a reputed industry/organization in the corporate sector. Professors from academia, with adequate experience in top positions in the corporate sector may also apply.
