Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore invites applications for the position of Software Engineer and Instruction Designer in the Centre for Continuing Education (CCE). The details are as follows

💼 DESIGNATION / JOB POSITION

• Software Engineer (Moodle site administration and maintenance)
• Instruction Designer

🎓 QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE / REQUIREMENT

Software Engineer (Moodle site administration and maintenance) Essential Qualifications : BE / B. Tech or ME / M. Tech or PhD preferably in Electronics / Computer Science / Information Science / Data Science with 2 or more years of relevant experience
Desired Skills :
a) Knowledge of LMS platforms usage and maintenance, preferably Moodle in large scale usage.
b) Basic knowledge of relational and nonrelational databases, conferencing platforms like Microsoft teams and Zoom.
c) Ability to work in a team and communicate with stakeholders to identify needs and adapt the platforms based on these needs.
d) Strong communication skills: written and verbal
e) Knowledge of frontend and backend technologies like HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, Apache HTTP server and webservices.
f) Experience in an e-learning project/EdTech is a plus.
g) Knowledge of Linux distributions such as Ubuntu, Fedora and Centos Linux.
h) Knowledge on Virtual machines (VM), configuration of Test servers on VM, knowledge of server stacks like WampServer, Xampp, Lamp, ISS, NGINX etc., Development and designing of new websites.
i) Experience with eLearning delivery and curation systems.
j) Ability to learn new technologies as and when required.
Responsibilities :
a) Maintain Moodle LMS for large set of users by providing support at both front end and back end.
b) Provide support for LMS to cater to the needs of specific courses, manage static websites of I-KEN and CCE, and update the websites regularly.
c) Support the I-KEN content creators working with faculty in the technological aspects.
d) Periodic update and maintenance of websites with state-of-the-art features and widgets and provide
the necessary support with SAP Student Lifecycle Management system (SLcM).

Instruction Designer Essential Qualifications : BE / B. Tech or ME / M. Tech or PhD preferably in Electronics / Computer Science / Information Science / Data Science with 2 or more years of relevant experience
Desired Skills :
a) Understanding of different pedagogies and learning theories.
b) Basic technical skills to create engaging and interactive e-learning resources and content, including digital graphics, slides, audio/video, and animations.
c) Basic working knowledge of visual design softwares.
d) Ability to write effective copy, instructional text, audio, and video scripts.
e) Ability to learn new technologies or theories as and when required.
f) Experience as an instructional designer/experience in an EdTech organization.
g) Good skills in using digital technology.
h) Strong communication skills: written and verbal.
i) Ability to communicate and work with stakeholders to understand the needs in different courses and create learning resources.
Responsibilities :
a) Create engaging learning activities and compelling course content, work with subject matter experts to identify target audience’s training needs, set instructional end goals, and create content that matches them
b) Visualize instructional graphics, the user interface, and the finished product, analyze, and apply trends and best practices in learning technologies and instructional design.
c) Provide exercises and activities that enhance the learning process, create supporting material/media (audio, video, simulations, role plays, etc.)
d) Devise modes of assessment, such as tests, quizzes, and surveys, to measure the effectiveness of the course, maintain project documentation and course folders

🏆 SALARY / REMUNERATION / PAY SCALE ₹

• Software Engineer (Moodle site administration and maintenance) Consolidated salary range: Rs. Rs. 42,000/- + HRA per month
• Instruction Designer Consolidated salary range: Rs. 38,000/- + HRA per month
