OMEO KUMAR DAS INSTITUTE OF SOCIAL CHANGE AND DEVELOPMENTis a vision turned reality for some of the most eminent academics of the entire Northeast. The Institute was established after a prolonged and strenuous effort of the academicians on March 30, 1989 under the joint initiative of the Government of Assam and the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), New Delhi. OKDISCD is registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860. Formerly known as the Institute for Social Change and Development, the Government of Assam renamed it after the first Education Minister of Assam, Omeo Kumar Das in 1995 as a mark of respect towards him on his birth centenary.The Chief Minister of Assam, Sri Tarun Gogoi, laid the foundation stone of the Institute on April 13, 2005 and inaugurated the building on February 20, 2009.

🎓 QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE / REQUIREMENT
- One Post of Associate Professor (General) Pay scale-(37400-67000+AGP 9000/-)
A. Disciplines: Economics/Political Science/Sociology/Geography
B. Required qualifications as prescribed by UGC and having:-
a) A Master’s Degree with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point-scale, wherever the grading system is followed) in any of the disciplines as mentioned above from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university.
b) Good academic record, with a Ph.D. Degree in any of the disciplines as mentioned above.
c) A minimum of eight years of experience of research and /or teaching in an academic/research position as an Assistant Professor in a University, College or Accredited Research
Institution/organization with a minimum of eight publications as books and/or research/policy papers.
Candidates must enclose detailed CV and necessary testimonials along with publications. - One Post of Assistant Professor (General) Pay scale- (15600-39100 +AGP 6000/-)
A. Discipline: Economics
B. Required qualifications as prescribed by UGC and having:-
a) A Master’s degree with 55% marks in Economics (or an equivalent grade in a point-scale wherever the grading system is followed) from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university.
b) Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, the candidate must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC, or a similar test accredited by the UGC, like SLET/SET.
Candidates with Ph. D or proven research experience and quality publications will be preferred. The candidates must enclose detailed CV and necessary testimonials along with at least one publication as book /research/policy paper. - One Post of Assistant Professor (General) Pay- (₹70,000/- Consolidated per month)
A. Discipline: Sociology
B. Required qualifications as prescribed by UGC and having:-
a) A Master’s degree with 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point-scale wherever the grading system is followed) in Sociology from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university.
b) Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, the candidate must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC, or a similar test accredited by the UGC, like SLET/SET.
