Gujarat Biotechnology University (GBU) is a modern university near GIFT City, Gandhinagar. Funded by the Government of Gujarat’s Department of Science and Technology, GBU will create a culture of excellence in innovation with entrepreneurship at its core. GBU offers Masters by Research (MScR) and PhD biotechnology programmes through its close partnership with the world-leading University of Edinburgh who provide curriculum delivery, academic leadership and faculty training. GBU has a strong translational focus, aiming to deliver biotechnology solutions for society in collaboration with the vibrant life science industry in Gujarat, across India and internationally. GBU will develop critical thinkers with a research-based multidisciplinary training. Internships with industry and placements at the University of Edinburgh will enlarge the horizons of graduates, who will be highly sought-after by employers.

Professor (Animal Biotechnology)
A person to be qualified to be appointed as a Professor should be either A) i) An eminent scholar having a Ph.D. degree in Animal Biotechnology or allied area. The candidate should be actively engaged in applied research on Animal biotechnology as evident from a substantial publication portfolio of high quality, actively engaged in research with a significant international / national reputation, ideally 10 papers, upto six in highly rated publications and ii) A Master’s Degree in Animal Biotechnology or allied area with at least 55% marks in related science or technology discipline (or an equivalent grade in a point-scale, wherever the grading system is followed); and iii) Approximately 10 years teaching experience in university/college as Assistant Professor/ Associate Professor/Professor, and/or research experience at equivalent level at the University/National Level Institutions with evidence of having successfully guided doctoral candidate; and iv) Evidence of successfully securing substantial research grants Or B) An outstanding research professional with approximately 10 years of Industrial Research experience, having a Ph.D. degree in Animal Biotechnology or allied area and with significant patent outputs as an inventor, and who possess evidence of having successfully guided doctoral candidate
Professor (Medical Biotechnology)
A person to be qualified to be appointed as a Professor should be either A) i) An eminent scholar having a Ph.D. degree in Medical Biotechnology or allied area. The candidate should be actively engaged in applied research on Medical biotechnology as evident from a substantial publication portfolio of high quality, actively engaged in research with a significant international / national reputation; ideally 10 papers, upto six in highly rated publications and ii) A Master’s Degree in Medical Biotechnology or allied area with at least 55% marks in related science or technology discipline (or an equivalent grade in a point-scale, wherever the grading system is followed); and iii) A minimum of ten years of teaching experience in university/college as Assistant Professor/ Associate Professor/Professor, and/or research experience at equivalent level at the University/National Level Institutions with evidence of having successfully guided doctoral candidate; and iv) Evidence of successfully securing substantial international and national research grants Or B) An outstanding research professional with approximately 10 years of Industrial Research experience, having a Ph.D. degree in Medical Biotechnology or allied area and with significant patent outputs as an inventor, and who possess evidence of having successfully guided doctoral candidate.
Professor (Industrial Biotechnology)
A person to be qualified to be appointed as a Professor should be either A) i) An eminent scholar having a Ph.D. degree in Industrial Biotechnology or allied area. The candidate should be actively engaged in applied research on Industrial Biotechnology as evident from a substantial publication portfolio of high quality, actively engaged in research with a significant international / national reputation; ideally 10 papers, upto six in highly rated journals and ii) A Master’s Degree in Industrial Biotechnology or allied area with at least 55% marks in related science or technology discipline (or an equivalent grade in a point-scale, wherever the grading system is followed); and iii) Approximately 10 years teaching experience in university/college as Assistant Professor/ Associate Professor/Professor, and/or research experience at equivalent level at the University/National Level Institutions with evidence of having successfully guided doctoral candidate; and iv) Evidence of successfully securing substantial research grants.
