National Law School of India University invites interested faculty to offer Elective Courses

🏫 ABOUT INSTITUTION

NLSIU National Law School of India University was the first National Law University established in India in 1986. The premier law school was set up with a mission to pioneer legal education reforms, and to anchor the transformation of the Indian legal system through research and policy interventions. NLSIU was established under the National Law School of India Act (Karnataka Act 22 of 1986), which was notified in the official Gazette August 29, 1987. This Act conferred complete administrative and academic autonomy to the University which is housed in the Bengaluru University campus. It is the basic governing document for the University and all persons associated with it.


NLSIU National Law School of India University invites interested faculty to offer Elective Courses to our students for the upcoming term from July 1 to September 25, 2021. As COVID pandemic conditions persist, these elective courses will be delivered online. An elective course at NLSIU requires 40 hours of classroom engagement.

These courses may be delivered in two formats:

A. Full Term Elective with 40 hours of classroom engagement spread across 10 weeks (July 1 –September 25, 2021); OR
B. Intensive Elective with 40 hours of classroom engagement, with 4 hours each day for 10 days (August 2, 2021 – August 12, 2021).

💼 DESIGNATION / JOB POSITION

  • Teaching Faculty

🎯 DEPARTMENT / DISCIPLINE / SPECIALIZATION

Elective Courses vary in their focus and pedagogy. Three types of Elective Courses are common at NLSIU:

  • Taught Course (predominantly lecture/discussion based, with an exam);
  • Research Course (focused on review of primary and secondary research leading to a Term Paper);
  • Practice or Clinical Course (focused on field work, simulation, drafting or litigation exercises examined through the clinical methods).

🎓 QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE / REQUIREMENT

Faculty must invariably possess a graduate and post-graduate degree in law or the Social Sciences. Alternatively, they may have at least 7 years of post-qualification experience in legal practice. Many faculty have published widely in their fields of expertise.
