🎯 ABOUT INSTITUTION

The Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Hyderabad was established as an Off-Campus in 2011 at the invitation of the erstwhile government of Andhra Pradesh. Since its inception, the campus at Hyderabad has been guided by the mandate of TISS in combining academic excellence with social relevance. The scope of its activities through innovative and interdisciplinary teaching programmes, research studies.

The Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) was established in 1936 and is a deemed university fully funded by the University Grants Commission, Government of India. TISS offers over 50 Master’s Degree programmes from its Mumbai, Tuljapur, Guwahati and Hyderabad Campuses. Masters’ programmes are offered in a range of socially relevant inter-disciplinary areas of Social Work, Social Sciences, Health, Management, Labour Studies and Habitat Studies. TISS is a research university with M. Phil. and Ph. D. programme and basic and applied research in a range of areas. A high degree of freedom and autonomy shape the positive work ethos and creativity in the Institute facilitating strong linkages between education, research, field action and Dissemination. The Institute provides significant space and resources for basic and policy research; and has research collaboration with some of the best universities and institutions across all continents. TISS offers a very challenging but fulfilling academic environment and opportunity to scholars committed to creating a just society through education, generation of knowledge and field action, and invites interested scholars in Social Sciences and allied disciplines located within and outside India to apply for faculty positions in its schools and centres.


The project consists of four interrelated activities including two research studies.
a) Adoption and adaptation of the CLIx program developed by TISS for Bhutan, Tanzania, and Nigeria.
b) Impact study to assess the impact of the use of OERs to build teacher capacities of secondary school science and mathematics in each of the partner countries.
c) Innovation diffusion to assess the uptake of this innovation among the key stakeholders in the respective countries and the pathways to scaling the innovation.
d) Knowledge Dissemination of the insights from deployment and research of this project

  • Program Co-Ordinator – Knowledge Transfer (Mumbai)
  • Research Associates – Knowledge Transfer (physical science, biological science, mathematics) (Mumbai/Pune)

  • Research Co-Ordinator – Innovation Diffusion Study (Bangalore)

🎓 QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE / REQUIREMENT

Program Co-Ordinator – Knowledge Transfer (1 position)
This role will plan and coordinate the activities of CLIx4STEM in training and knowledge transfer to the teacher educators in three countries (Bhutan, Tanzania, Nigeria) under the supervision of Lead Technical Consultant.
Key Responsibilities
❖ Plan and co-ordinate online design lab course to train teacher educators in each of three partner countries (Bhutan, Tanzania, Nigeria).
❖ Plan co-ordinate research design workshops for the Impact Study and the Innovation Diffusion study.
❖ Coordinate the installation of the TISSx platform at each of the partner project sites.
❖ Provide research support to the knowledge transfer and research teams by conducting literature reviews, drafting course design documents etc.
❖ Manage online and physical knowledge repositories developed in the course of knowledge transfer.
❖ Report on the progress of the knowledge transfer to all key stakeholders.
Qualifications
❖ Applicants must have a degree (B.Ed./M.A (Ed)./MEd) in education/social sciences combined with a postgraduate/graduate degree in science/ mathematics / engineering or in similar fields. Candidate pursuing their PhD in Education or allied fields would be preferred.
Experience
❖ Three years of relevant experience of having worked on research projects or teaching experience.
Skills and competencies required
❖ Good understanding of curriculum design and use of ICT in education.
❖ Experience in project planning and co-ordination of academic research.
❖ Ability to do background academic research and to author academic and research documents.
❖ Ability to leverage technology for work such as use of Google Drive, Learning Management Platforms such as Google Classroom, Edx, etc.
❖ Good communication and writing skills.
❖ Ability to handle tasks independently and meet deadlines.

Research Associates – Knowledge Transfer (4 positions)
These roles will assist the science education team (Physics, Chemistry, Life Sciences, Mathematics) on CLIx for the STEM project in training and supporting teacher educators in three countries (Bhutan, Tanzania, Nigeria).
Key Responsibilities
❖ Assist in all aspects of curriculum design, including ideation, creation of content and assessment for teacher educators, teachers and students.
❖ Create and curate relevant resources for teacher educators.
❖ Coordinate with implementing teams of the three partner countries and other internal teams (teacher professional development, technology, project management, communication, research etc.) on various aspects (technical, pedagogical and research).
❖ Design and facilitate communities of practice (mobile based groups) of science teachers.
❖ Assist piloting, implementation and research.
❖ Draft and write reports and literature reviews.
❖ Source and index research papers.
Qualifications
❖ Applicants must have a degree (B.Ed./M.A (Ed)./MEd) in education/social sciences combined with a postgraduate/graduate degree in science/ mathematics / engineering or in similar fields. Candidate pursuing their PhD in Education or allied fields would be preferred.
Experience
❖ Two years of relevant experience of having worked on research projects or teaching experience. Skills and competencies required
❖ Command on knowledge in science or mathematics (including ability to conduct experiments in school science, scientific temper and interest in history and nature of science)
❖ A good pedagogical sense in science or math education.
❖ Ability to leverage technology for work such as use of Google Drive, Learning Management Platforms such as Google Classroom, Edx, etc.
❖ Good communication and writing skills.
❖ Ability to handle tasks independently and meet deadlines.
❖ Willingness to learn data analysis, drafting research papers and reports and a range of production
tasks.

Research Co-ordinator/Post Doctoral Fellow – Impact Study (1 position)
This role will support the country project teams (Bhutan, Tanzania, Nigeria) in design, execution, and reporting of Impact study in their respective countries.
Key Responsibilities
❖ Lead the conceptualization and execution of the research design workshops for impact study.
❖ Co-ordinate the development of common data collection tools.
❖ Train and support country project teams in country specific research design and customization of data collection tools for impact study research.
❖ Train and support country project teams in data collection, analysis, and reporting.
❖ Document and share best practices on impact study research among country project teams.
Qualifications
❖ Applicants must have a degree (B.Ed./M.A (Ed)./MEd) in education/social sciences combined with a postgraduate/graduate degree in science/ mathematics / engineering or in similar fields. Candidate pursuing their PhD in Education or allied fields would be preferred.
Experience
❖ Early-stage researchers/ candidates in the final stages of PhD/ post doctoral fellows.
Skills and competencies required
❖ Experience in conducting academic research. Strong data analysis skills for quantitative and qualitative data. Experience in authoring academic research reports.

Research Co-ordinator/Post Doctoral Fellow – Innovation Diffusion Study (1 position)
This role will support the lead researcher in the design, execution, analysis, and reporting of the innovation diffusion study. This study would research the issues related to uptake and scaling of the CLIx for STEM innovation in each of the project country sites (Bhutan, Tanzania, Nigeria) and would be supported by the knowledge dissemination and scaling teams in each country.
Key Responsibilities
❖ Lead the conceptualization and execution of the research design workshops for innovation diffusion study.
❖ Finalize the research design and data collection tools.
❖ Work with the knowledge dissemination and scaling teams of each country partners (Bhutan, Tanzania, and Nigeria) on ongoing data collection.
❖ Data analysis and reporting of the innovation diffusion study. Particular author the interim and final reports of the innovation diffusion study.
❖ Support country project teams in knowledge dissemination by authoring policy briefs and key insights from the project on an ongoing basis.
❖ Document and share best practices on innovation diffusion research among country project teams.
Qualifications
❖ Applicants must have a degree in education (B.Ed. /M.A (Ed)./MEd) combined with a postgraduate/ graduate degree in science/ mathematics / social science / data science / applied statistics or in similar fields. Candidate pursuing their PhD in Education or allied fields would be preferred.
Experience
❖ Early-stage researchers/ candidates in the final stages of PhD./Post doctoral fellows Skills and competencies required
❖ Experience in conducting academic research. Strong data analysis skills for quantitative and qualitative data. Experience in authoring academic research reports.

🏆 SALARY / REMUNERATION / PAY SCALE

  • Program Co-Ordinator – Knowledge Transfer (Mumbai) In the range of INR 35,000 to 50,000 depending upon qualification and experience
  • Research Associates – Knowledge Transfer (Mumbai/Pune) In the range of 30,000 to 40,000 depending upon qualification and experience
  • Research Co-Ordinator – Impact Study (Bangalore) In the range of 40,000 to 50,000 depending upon qualification and experience
  • Research Co-Ordinator – Innovation Diffusion Study (Bangalore) : In the range of 40,000 to 50,000 depending upon qualification and experience
