The Birla Institute of Technology & Science, BITS Pilani is an all-India Institute for higher education. The primary motive of BITS is to “train young men and women able and eager to create and put into action such ideas, methods, techniques and information”. The Institute is a dream come true of its founder late Mr G.D.Birla – an eminent industrialist, a participant in Indian freedom struggle and a close associate of the Father of Indian Nation late Mr. Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi (Mahatma Gandhi). What started in early 1900s as a small school, blossomed into a set of colleges for higher education, ranging from the Humanities to Engineering until 1964 when all these colleges amalgamated to culminate into a unique Indian University of International standing. This university was christened as the Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, known to many as BITS, Pilani.

  • Registrar

๐ŸŒŸ PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Result Areas:
Departmental Strategy Formulation and Planning Understand Institute goals and objectives and cascade this to working level. Create departmental level strategy and goals based on overall university goals and objectives.
Propose, plan and execute departmental budget. Collate information across departments, locations and plan recruitment activities.

  1. Regulation and Compliance Management
    Ensure that all the rules and regulations are followed across the Institute according to โ€œMemorandum of Association, Rules and Regulationsโ€. Ensure compliance under UGC act, PF & Misc. Act, Gratuity act, Societies act etc. Serve as the ex-officio Secretary of
    Board of Governors, General Body, Senate, Finance Committee, Research Board, and Examination Committee – ensure all meetings are held and minutes circulated.
  2. Day to Day Affair Management
    Communication with government bodies on behalf of the Institute. Evaluation process of PhD thesis. Providing information to external agencies. Sharing of employee related policies and changes with all the faculty and staff members. Custodian of Institute records. Issuance of Degrees/Diplomas, medals, verification of degree etc. Conduct Convocation. Issuance of office orders and notices. Sign agreements and MoUs on behalf of the Institutes. Sign employee documents such appointment, transfer, promotion, discipline, compensation, benefits etc.
  3. Crisis and Escalation Management
    Provide advice on a range of matters, especially legal. Defend cases against Institute. Initiate / manage legal proceedings against any individual or organization on behalf of the Institute if required. Respond to requests under RTI appropriately.
  4. People Management
    Allocate responsibilities within team, monitor performance, provide developmental feedback, resolve grievances, counsel and mentor new team members throughout the year. Appraise team’s performance as per the performance management cycle.

๐ŸŽ“ QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE / REQUIREMENT

Other Skill and Ability Requirements
Technical Knowledge: Awareness of applicable policies, understanding of faculty, student and university related rules and regulations, understanding of legal matters, understanding of finance related matters, Knowledge of ERP operation, Deep
understanding of regulatory matters pertaining to Universities and education.
Behavioral Competencies: Communication skills, Conflict resolution skills, Time management skills, Problem solving skills, Leadership skills
Qualification and Personal Profile
Minimum Qualification: A Masterโ€™s degree (Qualification in Management/Law will be an added advantage) from an institute of repute.
Experience: At least 15 years


๐Ÿ† SALARY / REMUNERATION / PAY SCALE โ‚น

Suitable candidate will be placed in Level 14 with a minimum pay of Rs. 1,44,200 per month plus DA, and other benefits as per Institute Norms.
