💼 ABOUT INSTITUTION

Guru Nanak Dev University was established at Amritsar on November 24, 1969 to mark the 500th birth anniversary of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. It is both a residential and an affiliating university. In conceiving the future course of the University, the objectives enshrined in the Guru Nanak Dev University Act 1969, emphasised that the new University would make provision for imparting education and promoting research in the humanities, learned professions, sciences, especially of applied nature and technology. The University has risen to 16th rank in the top 50 universities of the country, as per recent survey conducted by ‘India Today’ and has achieved 11th Position, out of the 500 universities, in Publications in science. The University has won the highest sports Award in the country, the Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Trophy, for a record of 21 times. The university has won National Championship in Inter-University Youth Festivals in the year 2012. The University has been National Champion for 8 times. The University has also won the North Zone Inter-University Cultural Championship for the 12 times this year.

🎓 QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE / REQUIREMENT

Director#
The qualifications of Director will be that of Professor as per “UGC REGULATIONS ON MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR APPOINTMENT OF TEACHERS AND OTHER ACADEMIC STAFF IN UNIVERSITIES AND COLLEGES AND MEASURES FOR THE MAINTENANCE OF STANDARDS IN HIGHER EDUCATION-2010” or subsequent
regulations adopted by the Government of Punjab from time to time.
Experience required : Minimum ten years of experience as a Professor(in the University System) with outstanding contribution to research in field of Interfaith Studies/Religious Studies.

Deputy Director#
The qualifications of Deputy Director will be that of Associate Professor as per “UGC REGULATIONS ON MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR APPOINTMENT OF TEACHERS AND OTHER ACADEMIC STAFF IN UNIVERSITIES AND COLLEGES AND MEASURES FOR THE MAINTENANCE OF STANDARDS IN HIGHER EDUCATION2010” or subsequent regulations adopted by the Government of Punjab from time to time.
Experience Required : Minimum five years of experience as Associate Professor (in the University System) with outstanding contribution to research in field of Interfaith Studies/Religious Studies.
Tenure : Three years. The candidate can reapply after 3 years for afresh appointment as per laid procedure.

Faculty
As Centre for Interfaith Studies is being run in project mode as such there is no regular recruitment of the faculty in the Centre. The faculty will be appointed for tenure of three years with the provision of re-appointment after following proper procedure as afresh appointment after completion of 3 years tenure:
Professor/Associate Professor/Assistant Professor$:
The applicant must be an approved faculty in any of the posts as per “UGC REGULATIONS ON MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR APPOINTMENT OF TEACHERS AND OTHER ACADEMIC STAFF IN UNIVERSITIES AND COLLEGES AND MEASURES FOR THE MAINTENANCE OF STANDARDS IN HIGHER EDUCATION-2010” or subsequent regulations adopted by the Govt. of Punjab from time to time. Certificate from the parent institute/university is to be attached along with the project regarding the approval on the post held by the applicant, last pay drawn and whether the parent institute/university will pay the salary during the tenure of the project.

Post Doctoral Fellows$
Eligibility criteria
(i) The candidate must have a Ph.D. degree in the relevant subject preferably with published research work to their credit.
(ii) Only Ph.D. awarded unemployed candidates will be eligible for the award of Postdoctoral Fellowships.
(iii) The upper age limit for applicants is 35 years, relaxation of 5 years in age for SC/ST/OBC/Women candidates applicable as per Government of India Norms.
Note : Preference will be given to candidates having experience in the relevant research area.
Fellowship : @ Rs. 43,800/- pm for I year+ HRA (as admissible)
@ Rs. 45,000/- pm for II year+ HRA (as admissible)
@ Rs. 46,500/- pm for III year+ HRA (as admissible)

Research Fellows$
Eligibility criteria
The candidate must have qualified UGC/CSIR NET-JRF or any equivalent in the relevant subject and have Post Graduate degree with 55% marks with relaxation of 5% for SC/ST candidates applicable as per Government of India Norms.
Note : Preference will be given to candidates having experience in the relevant research area.
Fellowship @ Rs. 31,000/- pm + HRA (as admissible)
$. Tenure:
The tenure of appointments will be subject to the annual performance review of each individual by the Standing Committee. If the performance of the appointed persons is found satisfactory, he/she will be allowed to continue for a maximum period of three years. However after the expiry of the three year tenure, the candidate may reapply for further appointment as per the laid out procedure.


🏆 PAY SCALE / REMUNERATION / SALARY / EMOLUMENT

a) The remuneration for Faculty members shall be commensurate with the pay scale/grade pay drawn by the applicant in their parent institution, provided the applicant is not being paid by the parent institution(to which he/she belongs to), during the project period offered by Centre for Interfaith Studies.
b) For retired personnel, the remuneration shall be fixed on the basis of the last pay drawn minus pension.
c) For the positions of Post Doctoral Fellows, the amount of fellowship shall be as per the guidelines of DS Kothari Fellowship as approved by UGC.
d) For the positions of Research Fellows, the amount of fellowship shall be as per the guidelines of UGC/JRF rules.
e) Apart from the persons belonging to academic/research institutions, the eminent persons from the relevant field engaged in the study and research of any of the areas of specializations as mentioned above, may also apply; however, the remuneration to be paid to them will be decided by the selection committee on the basis of their contribution, experience, quantum and quality of work/research done by them in the concerned area of specialization.
f) The tenure of appointment will be subject to the annual performance review of each individual by the Standing Committee. 📝 HOW TO APPLY

On-line applications are invited from eligible candidates in Centre for Interfaith Studies in the Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar as per details given below.
Candidates are required to deposit the prescribed fees (non refundable) through online mode only using Credit Card/ Debit card/ Net banking. Application fees for Posts at Sr. No. 1 to 5 will be Rs. 1180/-(including GST) (Rs. 590/-(including GST) for SC/ST & PWD candidates). The SC/ST and PWD candidates who are not domicile of the State of Punjab shall have to pay the application fee of Rs. 1180/- (including GST). The application submitted through online mode ONLY shall be accepted and submission of its Hard Copy is also must. The reserved category Candidates must also attach their Punjab Domicile Certificate/Punjab Residence Certificate issued by the Competent Authority. Applicants applying for the post of Director and Deputy Director must also send the downloaded Academic Performance Indicator (API) based Performance Based Appraisal System (PBAS), as set out in UGC Regulations and Score Card Performa duly filled in all respect as per guidelines along with the
supporting documents with the hard copy of their application form. This PBAS and Score Card Performa and Guidelines are available at the university website www.gndu.ac.in.

Candidates are required to apply in the online mode only through Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar website www.gndu.ac.in. No other means / mode of application (through post, email, fax, deposit of CV etc.) will be accepted. Applicants are required to take TWO printouts of the Online Application Form. Affix the same passport size photograph (which was uploaded with the online form) on it and send a copy to ‘THE REGISTRAR, GURU NANAK DEV UNIVERSITY, AMRITSAR-143005’, PUNJAB and keep the 2nd copy with him/her.

Applicants applying for posts at S.Nos. 1,2,4 &5 must also send self attested copies of all the certificates of Educational/ Professional QUALIFICATIONS (DEGREES AND DMC’S WITH CONVERSION FORMULA OF CGPA/OGPA), EXPERIENCE CERTIFICATE, RESERVE CATEGORY CERTIFICATE (Reservation certificate issued by the competent authority as a proof of claiming the reserve category as made in the online application form) etc. along with application form.

Applicants applying for the post of Director and Deputy Director must also send the downloaded Academic Performance Indicator (API) based Performance Based Appraisal System (PBAS), as set out in UGC Regulations and Score Card Performa duly filled in all respect as per guidelines along with the supporting documents with the hard copy of their application form. This PBAS and Score Card Performa and Guidelines are available at the university website www.gndu.ac.in.

Applicants applying for the post at S.No. 3 are required to send a Certificate from the parent institute/university, along with the application form and project, regarding the approval on the post held by the applicant, last pay drawn and whether the parent institute/university will pay the salary during the tenure of the project.
